Manufacturing Sciences Corporation (MSC) is a Specialty Metal Manufacturer with the ability to process & manufacture technology metals in an Environmentally Sound, Safe and Controlled location.  We have over 35 years of experience with depleted Uranium.  We are the only commercial organization globally capable of casting, rolling, and machining products from depleted Uranium.

Essential Job Function/ Skills/ Responsibilities:

The Fabrication Machinist will operate computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts. Loads parts and materials in machine, cycles machine, detects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Run production lots, communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.

  • Read, review and understand schematics, blueprints, and drawings before beginning production

  • Perform typical machine shop operations

  • Create, modify, load, and run programs, understand and be able to successfully navigate through Mastercam program database

  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee

  • Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding

  • Assure the quality of each part meets specifications

  • Assist in other work areas, including but not limited to, performing fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation, and sandblasting

  • Ensure documentation, such as travelers and in-process check sheets, are being completed properly

  • Maintain all paperwork, time log, quality inspection sheets, rework sheets

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 2-3 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Good communication skills, attention to detail.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use measuring devices.

  • Must be able to follow routers.

  • Use simple math to perform basic calculations.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • 5 years prior machining experience

  • Tool and die experience a plus

  • Programing experience a plus

Physical Job Demands:

  • Sitting – 10%

  • Standing - 75%

  • Walking – 10%

  • Other Duties - 5%, Bending, Stooping, Squatting Reaching, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting <50 lbs. without assistance
