Manufacturing Sciences Corporation (MSC) was established in 1982 as a high technology, metal manufacturing company. Its casting, rolling, and fabrication plant began operations in 1985. Since then, MSC has converted approximately 6 million pounds of depleted uranium (DU) into more than 70,000 useful products, including components for scientific instruments, containers for fuel re-processing, and the largest components ever cast and machined for a spent fuel shipping cask.

At MSC's plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, innovative applications of proven technologies and methods are combined in the specialty metal processing and manufacturing of materials.

MSC has the unique capability to take the customers unwanted DU, and by utilizing our DU experience and specialized facilities, can recycle the DU into useful products. Among the DU products offered are industrial radiographic shields, medical isotope transportation shields, counterweights and various items for energy and physics research.
